One of TEP’s most unique and strongly held principles is that extended experiences outside of the classroom are essential to a teacher’s development and effectiveness inside the classroom. As a result, the career arc of a TEP teacher looks very different from that of the typical “career” teacher. In particular, the TEP teacher career-arc is marked by a unique program, which mandates that each teacher take a 1 year sabbatical from TEP after each period of four or five consecutive years of teaching.
